How to Unlock Bootloader and Install Custom Rom on Redmi Note 3

In order to flash fastboot ROMs and custom ROMs, it is quite essential that your device bootloader is unlocked. So here we shared simple guide to unlock bootloader of Redmi Note 3 using Mi Flash Unlock tool.
How to Unlock Bootloader of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Android device

As the below process wipes the user data, it is important to take backup of all the data present on your device like contacts, app data, SMS, images, videos, call logs, etc. Also enable USB Debugging and charge your handset to at least 80%. Download and install USB Drivers on PC.

Disclaimer: If you are not aware of flashing custom ROMs, then don’t try to unlock the bootloader. A serious damage or even you may brick your handset. Xiaomi Advices is not responsible for any damage.

Step 1: Download Recovery zip file of Redmi Note 3 China developer ROM from HERE.

Step 2: You need to download the recovery file on your PC and then transfer the same file to device storage using micro USB cable.

Step 3: Disconnect the device from PC and launch the Updater app. Tap the three dot present on upper right corner and select ‘Choose update package’. Here you need to choose the zip file which earlier copied to phone storage in Step 2.

Step 4: Now you need to log into Mi Account which has the unlocking permission of your device.

Step 5: Power off your device. Now enter into bootloader mode by pressing the Power key and Volume key at the same time.

Step 6: Now download and install the Unlocking tool on your computer. Click HERE to download.

Step 7: Once install, log into the application with the same Mi account. Take a USB cable and connect Redmi Note 3 with computer.

Step 8: Press ‘Unlock’. The unlocking process might take upto 10 seconds to complete.

Now you have Unlock the bootloader of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. In order to lock bootloader again, users need to flash official MIUI ROMs.
